Nightfall: Chapter 2

"Conner do you think you're well enough to move?'"

I stop the stroking and wait for him to respond.

"I don't have much of a choice, sorry Conner."

I managed to pick him up despite his weight and size. I begin making my way towards the hotel through the ally way.

I hope this is the right way...

Being moved with a gunshot wound by a vampire who was struggling to carry me hurt. A lot.

STOP. I can't... I can try to change..

I stop and lay him down again.

"Are you sure, Conner? I don't want you to.... lose control.."

I can... do it...



I take a deep but ragged breath.

You might want to... look away.

I start the transformation, mentally preparing myself for the pain. Transforming hurts as it is, but when silver poisoning is added...

I was on fire, the silver left in my body being pumped through me tenfold.

FUUUUUCK.

Minutes later, I'm lying on the floor, covered in blood and still bleeding from the wound.

Sure, I was more likely to bleed to death, but I could be moved easier and the silver wasn't going to kill me as quick.

I wrap my jacket around Conner's wound to slow the blood flow and stop him from bleeding out.

"Ok, lets do this."

I pick him up and set out again.

It hurt, a lot, even now that she could carry me properly.

"Get me... into the hotel... lock the doors..."

"Thats what I plan."

I make it to The Plaza's back entrance and go in. A few workers see me and move over but I give them a look and they back off.

"Hang on we're almost their."

I jump into a servant elevator and head up to our floor.

I drop out of her grip as soon as we enter the room, trying to force the wolf-part of me down. It wasn't working, and I was losing control.

"FF...fuck....!!"

"Conner!!"

Oh shit he's losing it!

I tried to stand, falling against the wall as I did.

"SHIT!"

I fell to my knees, clutching my stomach.

I felt it starting, and I couldn't do anything about it.

Ayashe assembled in a line with Veni, a position she would normally carry back during her days hunting on The Range. Her heart jumped as excitement filled her face turning her skin slightly red. She gritted her teeth immediately imaging the pray three of them could catch. The thought of blood and raw flesh made the hair on her neck ignite with energy.

I turn to lock and bolt the door, then slide a chair in front.

Shit, I can't believe this is happening...

"Conner, you got to control it!"

=I come over to Veni and the newcomer=

-I know this city better than the both of you-

=I give a wicked grin=

-Besides...I've been itching for a good hunt-

You know what kind of hunting this is. And use your voice, it's not polite to keep secrets from guests.

=I look to the newcomer and turn my head back to Veni=

I apologize for any offense.

‘Stray’? Such a comment made Ayashe’s face convulse with displeasure, she’d never been disrespected with such language before. Ayashe’s movement became wooden as she tried to comprehend how long it would take until this new pack considered her a burden. Did they just cut their losses loose? Or would they be more unforgiving?

She sniffed, not knowing how to accept Damire’s apology to busy lost in thought.

I feel my bones moving, my nails turning into claws. It hurt, much more than usual, even with silver poisoning.

I fall forward, writhing in pain as fur started to cover me.

When it was done, I was scared. Because I was unable to move. Unable to breathe. I was trapped, staring through the wolf's eyes at Claire.

=i lead out little group out of the warehouse, keeping an eye out for anyone who might be watching, and then moving towards the meatpacking area=

"Conner... just stay calm... I'm your friend.."

I take a step backwards.

=I shrug off the punch and follow, more for security than anything=

Agreed...I'll keep my eyes open.

=I just wander with them, watching for any Nightbane=

I feel my legs moving as the wolf circles her, putting itself between her and the door, not removing our eyes from her.

"Conner, you need to take control..."

I track him, not letting him get behind me.

Ayashe’s senses were overwhelmed by the stench of packed and drying meat. It made her nose burn as a barrage of different aromas cut into her nostrils. She spun her head confused at this prospect.

‘How..? She muttered incoherently, ‘There are no…’

Her speech petered off as a slight salivation formed at the corner of her gormless smile.
