Nightfall: Chapter 2

Dawn shakes her head. She whimpers slightly, going limp.
What the fuck was up with New York?

(Dimitri)

=I look at the spectacle with a pleased expression=

Well...That was...thrilling

=Anton looked at me, feeling a bit of pity=

(In Slavic) Anton...don't tell me you actually feel sorry for her?

=Anton shakes his head=

Anton: (In Slavic) Of course not...

=Anton looks at her limp form=

Anton: (In Slavic) What will we do with her?

=I think it over a bit=

(In Slavic) Leave her be...we have much bigger concerns.

=Anton nods, knowing that there were much bigger concerns to worry about=

=i walked along the streets, just enjoying the rain and the feeling it had on my head. My cell phone rang, and I saw it was one of my few friends. Apparently, I had missed a game night. I apologized and asked when the next one was. He told me tonight, and asked if I could come over. I thought about it for a bit, then said yes, as long as he didn't mind his metal detector going off. We both laughed at the old joke and I headed off to his place. He knew I was into some shady stuff, running packages and so on, but he was a bit extremist on the home defense side of things, so there wasn't any real issue with me bringing anything to his home. He was also a tiny bit informed into the supernatural, knowing that the Nightbane, Vampires, Werewolves, and so on existed, but I didn't tell him what I was, or anything like that. I knew better, and he understood that. Someday, I might tell him but not tonight. Tonight was game night, where we hang out and just play games with each other, as well as his family=

=i prowled along the back alleys and side streets, just plodding along to clear my head. I was thinking on what Ari said, that encounter with Damire just an idle thought that popped in and out, but wouldn't go away. I'd mull over Ari's words, then just shift over to Damire. I wouldn't think much of it, only jump to suddenly thinking about it. All the while, I walked on, my fur soaked from the rain=

Dawn had to keep her eyes closed, to avoid the blood crawling down her face.
"So what now?" She asked evenly, head hung as blood oozed out.

Ari let her go, and instead went inside, ruffling Tria's hair as he went.

=I look at her, my tone even=

I'm not quite done with you just yet...

=I twirl the knife=

Now...I'm going to make an example of you.

=I then take the knife and plunge it into her arm down to the bone, dragging it down slowly=

Dawn screams. "I answered your questions!" she cried, trying to squirm away. "I answered you!"

I watched Damire bound away and then walked off myself, taking out my cellphone and dialing in a number.

Hey, Rutti.

Yeah.

Not too bad.

I need that favour from New Orleans.

Yeah, the 1935 one.

Yeah.

New York.

A lot.

No.

Tomorrow?

The airport? Sure you can get it by customs?

Ah. Alright. I'll see you there then.

=I stop for a second=

=My eyes narrow=

Dawn cries out in pain. It was intense pain, one she couldn't try and ignore.

=I finish and then start on the other arm=

=I then drag the blade down the other arm=

It's just been a matter of time.

=I then inch the blade downward=

"Please! PLEASE STOP!" she howled, thrashng. "PLEASE!"
Dawn wept, the blood flowing down her arms freely.

=I tut at her like a parent would a child=

I'm not done just yet...

=I wait, and then withdraw the blade from her arm=

Now...I'm going to leave you a permanent reminder.

=I take the blade to her cheek and make an ornate marking with the blade. Anton, who had gone to my workroom behind my back, coming back with a piece of steel shaped in the marking. I then take out a small mirror=

When I was made a vampire...they painted a rune on my home that meant 'The Demon'.

=I then place the red hot steel into the cut=

For you...you have been given the mark of the Fallen One.

=I continue to put the steel in, slowly=

Dawn whimpers, but keeps as still as possible. Moving and thrashing would make the branding worse.
But her throaty noises could actually be discerned as VERY impressive swearing by a 19 year old girl.

(Dimitri)
=I hear her cursing, my eyes narrowing=

Keep that up...and I'll do a whole lot more to you.

=I finish impressing the steel into her cheek, smiling at the dark irony=

Oh...I remembered that quite vividly...

=I take the mirror and place it in her field of vision, my ears burning from the insults=

She'll learn her place soon enough...

Look at yourself now...look at how far you've fallen.

Dawn fell silent.
Looking at the mirror, the brand in her cheek...she felt anger.
Enough weakness.

But for now...patience.

She relaxed. "Are you going to treat my wounds, or let me bleed out?"

=I note her expression and carefully hide my surprise=

Of course not...I may be a sick man, but inhumane I am not.

=I motion for Anton to get some bandages=

I have a reputation to protect.

"Cute." Dawn said. "Now what? Going to cut me elsewhere? God knows you missed a spot." She said sarcastically, turning her head so she could open an eye to look at him.

(Dimitri)

=My eyes narrow to slits, my expression turning from one of pleasure, to one of anger=

Well...looks like she's toughed up now...this isn't good

=I grab her throat in a vice-like grip=

Don't mistake my mercy for weakness.

=I continue my vice-like hold, my anger growing=

That would be a mistake.

"I don't underestimate my enemy." She said softly but firmly, unable to really move.

(Dimitri)

=I smile thinly=

Good. I'm glad we're on the same page.

=Anton arrives with the bandages, applying them to her arms=

Because we're not done here.

"Great. Where are you going now? Would you at least leave my legs alone, so I can walk to my colleagues?" She said simply, going limp.

(Dimitri)

=I give her a small, but somewhat dark smile=

I have no intentions going in that direction.

=I then move away from her, and then smile=

I want them to see how close you came to death's door.

=I then take the blade and put it into her shoulder, and then drag it across her chest=

Dawn screams, tears spilling from her eyes.
"You...are a monster." she ground out, screwing her eyes shut.

(Dimitri)

=I smile darkly=

Call me what you will, my dear.

=I continue to drag the knife diagonally across her chest, smiling and listening to her screams=

Dawn nearly blacked out. She held up, though.
"Please...stop." she 'begged.'
So I can rip your head off, spine and all, and beat your friend to death with it before going to kill whatever clown leads you fuckers while he plays DJ in a basement...
